In what file format is my EEG data stored?

We support 2 file formats:

  • XDF
  • BDF

These can be opened in many processing tools such as MATLAB, Python etc. These files can often easily be converted to other file types so if this is your case, feel free to reach out at support@mbraintrain.com.

Based on your needs, you can choose to record both XDF and BDF on your PC/phone. For example, if you use the LSL protocol to synchronize with other LSL streams, you need to record XDF. If you're using the UDP wireless protocol to send triggers to EEG data, you can record these in a BDF file.

Our PRO line amplifiers also support on-device recordings (locally, on device memory). Smarting PROX has internal memory, and Smarting PRO devices support external micro SD cards. On device memory you can only record the BDF file format.
