How to connect Smarting using a Bluetooth 5.0 dongle

In the past, Smarting systems used BlueSoleil software to connect to the Smarting Streamer software. Since BlueSoleil is not compatible with Windows 11, we recommend switching to a Bluetooth 5.0

There's two ways you can connect Smarting without using BlueSoleil:

1. Using a Bluetooth 5.0 dongle (recommended)

2. Using Bluetooth drivers on your laptop. However, every laptop has different specs so we can't guarantee good connection during the experiment.

Using a Bluetooth 5.0 dongle

Contact us for a dongle recommendation + instructions on how to install its drivers. In this case, internal Bluetooth drivers on your laptop must be disabled when using the dongle and setting it up.

After dongle setup, follow the steps below:

1. Go to Bluetooth & Devices, and change Bluetooth device discovery to Advanced:

2. In the same window, go to Add device → Bluetooth:

3. Find your Smarting device in the list and click on it. Once it's connected, go back to the Bluetooth settings.

4. Go to More Bluetooth settings and in the pop-up windows select COM ports tab:

5. Locate the Outgoing COM port that corresponds to your Smarting device. In the example above, that's COM5. This is the port you'll use to connect in Smarting Streamer app.

As long as you don't unpair the Smarting device from your laptop or change any Bluetooth driver settings, this COM port will stay the same.
