BlueSoleil software license is located on the USB Bluetooth dongle within the SMARTING package. This is a permanent license and there's no need to activate it - just use the dongle for connection. However, the software can also be downloaded from the BlueSoleil website and used without the dongle - with additional license fees.
If you're using Windows 11, you won't be able to connect to Smarting through BlueSoleil. BlueSoleil is not compatible with this version of Windows. Please see this article - BlueSoleil Not Compatible with Windows 11.
If you are using the BlueSoleil dongle, there are two possible causes for the license error:
1. The dongle is not working.
You can easily find out if the dongle is not working. Once you plug it in, the PC will not recognize any new device in Device Manager. Also, the dongle will not blink at all.
In this case, we can send you a replacement Bluetooth 5.0 dongle (additional charges may apply). Or we can send you the specifications of the dongle and you can order one yourself.
Please note that the BlueSoleil dongle should not be placed in the USB 3.0 port, as this can damage the dongle. Alternatively, you can use a USB 2.0 to USB 2.0 adapter that largely reduces the chance of the dongle malfunctioning. We have stated this information in the User manual (page 4, **Note).
2. Other drivers are active.
- You need to disable any other Bluetooth drivers in your Device Manager before installing BlueSoleil. Please see this article on how to properly set up BlueSoleil - How to properly install BlueSoleil
- Once you've made sure the installation went well, go to Device Manager and check if there's 2 identical BlueSoleil drivers:
- If there are, plug out the dongle.
- Right-click on the one driver that's left and select 'Disable'
- Once it's disabled, plug the dongle back in.
- Re-connect the Smarting device from scratch in BlueSoleil software!
