We no longer distribute BlueSoleil software with our Smarting devices as it's not compatible with Windows 11. However if you're still using it / want to re-install it due to issues, you can check this article out.
If possible, we highly recommend switching to Bluetooth 5.0 connection for your further Smarting experiments. Even if you're not using Windows 11. BlueSoleil is an older version of Bluetooth and it's not serviced any more. You can take a look at this article for more info: How to connect Smarting using a Bluetooth 5.0 dongle
Installing BlueSoleil
1. Most important step before installing BlueSoleil on your machine is to remove any other Bluetooth drivers.
Go to Device Manager and find the list of all Bluetooth devices. If there is non, you can skip this step.
Right-click on all the drivers and select "Uninstall" until they are all gone from the list. Make sure to check the checkbox "Attempt to remove the driver for this device". This is important because if the driver is not removed, BlueSoleil will malfunction. If the PC prompts you to restart, please do.
2. Once all other Bluetooth drivers are removed, install BlueSoleil. You can find it on the mbt USB memory stick received in the Smarting package. The most recent version is 10.0.498.0. If you don't have the right installer, contact us at support@mbraintrain.com
Run the setup.exe file to start the installation. Follow the installation instructions that will pop-up on the screen.
BlueSoleil will ask you to restart your laptop in the end of installation process.
Restart your PC twice!
If you don't, BlueSoleil will probably not work properly afterwards and you'll experience connection issues.
3. Once you've finished the installation and you've rebooted the PC, plug in the BlueSoleil dongle with the license. Go to BlueSoleil software and confirm that the Bluetooth is ON.
The last check we need to do is in Device Manager again. Make sure there's no other Bluetooth drivers active + that there's no 2 BlueSoleil drivers (see this article for debugging: I am having problems with BlueSoleil – The software keeps asking for a license)
4. Go to BlueSoleil software where we'll pair the Smarting device. To scan the devices, double-tap on the sun icon. Once your Smarting device appears, right-click on it and select "Search services":
Once BlueSoleil finds 1 Service for your device, select "Connect Bluetooth Serial Port" from the device options above. It will result in a COM port number which you'll use to connect in Smarting Streamer. In this example, that's COM24.
